Hey NE peeps!

WOW! the blog is dead. *CPR!* Heheheheheheee, silly me. Erm, the weather has gone completely nuts today! It rained, stopped, rained, stopped, rained..... you get the idea. It's cold nowadays, and some may love the weather! me too. And wrap myself with a few blankets and just fall asleep. Heheheee, love it. But the bad thing is, when we all get used to the cold weather, we will get awkward and frustrated with sunny weather. On sunny days, it gets really warm... like in sauna. Crazy weather.

So CNY is coming. right?! Hehehee, saw some of my neighbors putting up some CNY decorations, PRETTTYYYY! Maybe i shall celebrate with them, and just have fun collecting red packets. But of course, CNY is not all bout red packets that contains lots of money. Get to do some small research.

Mythology:

According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nien (Chinese: 年; pinyin: nián). Nien would come on the first day of New Year to devour livestock, crops, and even villagers, especially children. To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year. It was believed that after the Nien ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack any more people. One time, people saw that the Nien was scared away by a little child wearing red. The villagers then understood that the Nien was afraid of the colour red. Hence, every time when the New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nien. From then on, Nien never came to the village again. The Nien was eventually captured by Hongjun Laozu, an ancient Taoist monk. The Nien became Hongjun Laozu's mount.^[5]

Practices:

Redpackets: Red packets almost always contain money, usually varying from a couple of dollars to several hundred. Per custom, the amount of money in the red packets should be of even numbers, as odd numbers are associated with cash given during funerals (帛金 : Bai Jin). The number 8 is considered lucky (for its homophone for "wealth"), and $8 is commonly found in the red envelopes in the US. The number six (六, liù) is also very lucky as it sounds like 'smooth' (流, liú), in the sense of having a smooth year. Sometimes chocolate coins are found in the red packets.

Gift Exchange: In addition to red envelopes, which are usually given from elder to younger, small gifts (usually of food or sweets) are also exchanged between friends or relatives (of different households) during Chinese New Year. Gifts are usually brought when visiting friends or relatives at their homes. Common gifts include fruits (typically oranges, and never pears), cakes, biscuits, chocolates, candies, or some other small gift.^[13]

Fireworks: Bamboo stems filled with gunpowder that were burnt to create small explosions were once used in ancient China to drive away evil spirits. In modern times, this method has eventually evolved into the use of firecrackers during the festive season. Firecrackers are usually strung on a long fused string so it can be hung down. Each firecracker is rolled up in red papers, as red is auspicious, with gunpowder in its core. Once ignited, the firecracker lets out a loud popping noise and, as they are usually strung together by the hundreds, the firecrackers are known for their deafening explosions that are thought to scare away evil spirits. The burning of firecrackers also signifies a joyful time of year and has become an integral aspect of Chinese New Year celebrations

Bamboo	a plant used for any time of year
Sunflower	means to have a good year

Chom Mon Plant	a plant which gives you tranquility

Dragon dance and Lion Dance: Dragon and lion dances are common during Chinese New Year. It is believed that the loud beats of the drum and the deafening sounds of the cymbals together with the face of the dragon or lion dancing aggressively can evict bad or evil spirits.

HELLO!
Today something funny happened to me!
I was going home from my tuition center
suddenly, I saw a man and his son walking towards the elevator.
The man was carrying a handful of bags so i offered to press the button number thing for him

Me: Which floor sir?
Man: 4th.

I was shocked! Cause that was my FLOOOR LEVEL thing!
SUDDENLY! The man was my neighbor! SO EMBARRASSING! I quickly ran out
and went home.

Coming together?

For this year racial harmony, it is all about neighboors. so do you know your neighboors? what's their name? age? Likes and dislikes? have you talked to them yet?

if not, start talking. this year, we really wanted to achieve an objective, to strengthen the bonds of neighboors. with this, we all as one united people could come together as one to build more stronger bonds. we would like to call ourselves unbreakable.

Neighboor as a noun is a person that lives near another. So can i say they are the closest people you can find everyday? so if it is an emergency, who do you call? oh wait, what if you have no cell phone with you? and you are at your house? who do you shout for? i know you would be shouting for help. DUHH. but to whom you want it to be heard?! of course somebody closest to you, so who?! tell me noww......

IT IS YOUR NEIGHBOOR!

you might think this scenerio is crazy and impossible. but i guess, anything can happen in this technology world. yeah, i bet.

i know sometimes neighboors may be kinda scary, or whatever it is. but you still need them in some cases.

old times, people are really bonded. maybe because of the environment-kampong. but why must flats now should be stopping you to get to know your neighboors.

i do talk alot sometimes. or should i say alot now,
okey fine last shoutout!

come together! interact with your neighboors cause they are the closest person around you. i shall say the bonds between you and your neighboors are very important. to yourself, your family and our society.
